There is now incredible evidence that two or three hours of volunteer work a week can help older adults.
A comprehensive and compelling study covering 73 research projects over 45 years looking at happiness, health, brain function and life satisfaction, clearly showed volunteer work produced better health and longer life, and older people with chronic conditions benefitted most.
The study found 100 hours spent HELPING OTHERS eased depression and hypertension. YES, helping others is good for you!
The research was published in the Psychological Bulletin by Rotman Research Institute of Toronto, Canada. Daily Express, September 2014
