Total Care Solution Services (TCSS)
TCSS is the social enterprise arm of Crossroads Care Cwmtaf providing chargeable home support services across RCT.
The services they provide include cleaning, ironing, laundry and in patient washing which is collected and returned to the client’s home or hospital. They can also escort clients to appointments, shopping, a day out or they can shop on their behalf.
TCSS has also conducted many deep cleans recently which involves a thorough cleaning service over as many days necessary to complete the job. TCSS can offer a comprehensive cleaning service for landlords, letting agents, housing associations and offices.
All staff are insured to provide the services, are trained and CRB checked. All profits help support local carers. To find out more, please ring 01443 484249
Stroke Association – Stroke Month
The month of May is the Stroke Association’s Action on Stroke Month. Make May Purple is the association’s way of promoting the awareness month and encouraging fund raising through various events across the country and by wearing purple. The monies raised will go toward supporting people to live well after stroke.
The Stroke Association is teaming up with the Stroke Nurses in conjunction with the awareness month to hold a `Know Your Blood Pressure Event’ in the foyer of the Royal Glamorgan Hospital on Tuesday 12th May from 10am til 3pm. BP’s will be offered and the Association will be on hand offering information and advice on healthy living etc. All are welcome.

Rhydyfelin Library is being relocated to temporary premises whilst new accommodation is being developed.
The final day at the current building is Saturday 9th May, and as of Monday 11th May the Library will be open at the Rhydyfelin Community Centre. The same opening times will be maintained but the telephone number will change, details of which will follow shortly.
RCT Homes Community Fun Day 2015 is taking place at Tonyrefail Leisure Centre on Friday 31th July from 10.30am-4pm.

RNIB Cymru Group
RNIB Cymru run a social group in Pontypridd for those who have sight loss/problems and their families. The group meet every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at Riverside Day Centre, Ynysangharad Park from 10am til 12pm.

Cilfynydd OAP Group
The Cilfynydd OAP Group meet fortnightly on a Thursday at the Cilfynydd Community Centre from 2pm til 4pm. The group is a social group that has a mixture of men and women were you can join in with the chat and enjoy a cuppa.
They also arrange monthly trips and would like to extend an invitation to non-members who would like to come along.

HEALTH AND WELLBEING EVENT
The Taff Ely and Llantrisant 50+ Forum are holding a Health and Well Being Event on Thursday 4th June at Pontyclun Athletic Club from 11am til 1pm.
There will be a variety of organisations in attendance all available to offer information and advice, more details to follow.
All are very welcome.
Festivol is an event organised by Interlink to celebrate and recognise volunteers throughout RCT and is taking place in
Ynysangharad Park, Pontypridd on June 6th from 11am-3pm.
The event will be a fab opportunity for organisations/community groups to showcase their work to the wide audience expected to pass through Ponty Park on a Summer Saturday! It also gives the chance to celebrate Volunteers by bringing them along to a Family Fun Day, which will of course be free to all. Interlink’s Annual Volunteer Celebration Ceremony will also take place on the day in the marquee.

Hafal are Wales’ leading charity for people with serious mental illness and their carers. Covering all areas of Wales, Hafal is an organisation managed by the people it supports: individuals whose lives have been affected by serious mental illness.
Hafal run a Carers’ Transport Service that is provided on alternate days for carers of individuals with a mental illness, who are inpatients at Royal Glamorgan Hospital, Llantrisant (RGH) and Ysbyty George Thomas Hospital, Treorchy (YGT).
The service is open to carers of those receiving a service from adult mental health and older people’s mental health wards.
The service is provided by appointment, Monday to Friday 5pm to 10pm, Saturday and Sunday 1pm to 6pm.
The service alternates on a two-weekly rota:

Welcome Friends are holding an afternoon tea at Norton Bridge Methodist Hall in Cilfynydd on Tuesday 2nd June at 2.30pm. It will be a Coronation Special with music, a sing song, raffle, good food and good company all for just £2.50. All are welcome but places need to be booked in advance. There will an Open Day at Café 50 in Pontyclun (Community Centre Building) on Friday 5th June from 1.30pm-3.30pm to showcase all the activities available for older people.
The Welcome Friends Craft and Social Group, who use the centre, have been designing and making a large collage from clay and acrylics and this will be unveiled on the day.
All are welcome to attend and there will be opportunities to find out about volunteering for Welcome Friends and Café 50.
Carer’s Allowance Digital Service
The Carer’s Allowance Digital Service has been live since October 2013. It is a simpler, clearer and faster way to make a claim or report a change of circumstances. Over 150,000 Carers have now used the Service with excellent feedback.
The digital service is:
- Available 24 hours a day 7 days per week
- Arrives immediately at the Carers Unit once submitted
- Can be used on a mobile phone or tablet
- Has significantly less questions than the paper claim
- Does not require a signature or a password
- Has mandatory questions to ensure carers provide the
- information needed to help pay claims quickly
- Has helpline numbers and help text if carers need to
- clarify questions
- Does not need to be printed or saved
- Is available in Welsh
The Carers Assessment Unit will start processing the claim and will write to the Disabled Person to let them know a claim by someone caring for them has been made. The average time to complete the claim is around 26 minutes, you will not be timed out for 60 minutes so once you have started to complete you can take a break and then return to complete.
By including eligibility checks and mandatory question, Carers are able to supply the right information first time making a simpler, clearer and faster service.
