University of South Wales Event: Celebrating Care – 18 June, Glyntaff Campus (Stall) – The Big Weekend takes place on 17-19 June. As part of this wider event, the School of Care Sciences (part of the Faculty of Life Sciences & Education) are organising an alumni event to take place at the Glyntaff campus on Saturday 18 June, 10am-3pm. This particular event will be based around Celebrating Care. It will look to showcase all of the local charities involved in offering both health and care facilities and services (along with local health boards and other formal bodies). New Pathways First Aid Training – We currently have some fully funded spaces available on the Welsh Government approved Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) course. Please note, the courses are two days and both days are compulsory. The course dates are as follows:

Aged Veterans Fund – https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/aged-veterans-fund The Aged Veterans Fund has £25million available over 5 years. It will fund projects that support non-core health, wellbeing and social care needs for older veterans (born before 1 January 1950), including surviving World War 2 veterans, those who undertook National Service and other voluntary enlisted veterans who may need some focused support in relation to their health and social care needs. Applicants must be a registered charity with a track record of managing large strategic projects, and capacity to manage and coordinate the provision of the proposed portfolio.
Tesco Bags of Help Programme – The second funding round for the Tesco Bags of Help grant scheme opened on 18 April 2016. Bags of Help is available to a wide range of community groups and provides grants to improve local green spaces. Successful projects will go forward to a public vote in Tesco stores which will decide whether they receive a grant of £8,000, £10,000 or £12,000. Projects will include new pocket parks, sports facilities, schools, woodland walks and community gardens. It will fund capital projects that provide community benefit and do not charge for access. Transform Foundation – Transform Foundation’s Website Grant is open for applications. Each £18,000 grant covers strategy, design and development to build a website. You’ll work with a committed team of leading charity focused digital marketers, developers and designers to build an amazing web presence. The Website Grant is aimed at small to medium-sized charities and other not for profit organisations with a social mission (including, for example Community Interest Companies). The Atlantic Area programme has announced that it is open to receiving proposals to its fund from 26 April until 30 May, 12 noon. ‘Connect, Complement, Co-ordinate’: A RCT Together pathway for support – The Rhondda Cynon Taf Voluntary Sector Liaison Steering Group (VSLSG) has commissioned a piece of work to understand how best to support community organisations through the different stages of establishing a service or taking on a building. A review of current support needs has been proposed by the VSLSG, which aims to result in a structured ‘pathway’ for supporting community groups.
