Follow Your Dreams is a national charity operating in England and Wales that inspires children and young people with learning disabilities to follow their dreams.
Our vision is for children and young people with learning disabilities to recognise their potential, be ambitious and be provided with the opportunities to follow their dreams. The charity focuses on children’s abilities, growing and developing skills through the delivery of events, community groups, dreams and workshops.
If you would like to use your skills and experience at Board level to help us to realise our mission, we very much look forward to hearing from you.
We are looking for committed individuals to strengthen our existing board. We require dynamic and motivated people who are sympathetic to the aims and objectives of Follow Your Dreams to fulfill these voluntary duties. Contribute actively to the board of trustees by giving strategic direction; setting overall policy; defining goals and setting targets; evaluating performance; ensuring the charity’s effective and efficient administration and financial stability.
On the basis of a recent skills audit, we would particularly welcome people with skills in the following areas:
– Fundraising and income generation
– Marketing and communications
– Business and social enterprise development
However, applications from people with other senior management or board experience are also very much encouraged.
Trustees are expected to
– attend monthly Board meetings (these may be reduced to every two months)
– contribute advice and support on an ad hoc basis;
– become involved in working groups as required
– receive weekly reports via email
All travel and out of pocket expenses will be paid, although our current trustees have decided to waive this.
