It is with deepest regret and great sadness that Interlink announces the passing of our Volunteer Development Officer Christine Davies, after a short illness.
Chris joined Interlink in 2008 having previously managed a Home-Start project in Merthyr Tydfil, her strong work ethic and scrupulous administrative skills immediately came to the fore as she managed and recorded a huge increase in demand for Interlink’s Volunteer Centre services during her ten years with us.
Working with people interested in volunteering brought out Chris’ innate caring nature and she displayed tremendous patience and empathy supporting literally hundreds of people into volunteering projects, changing many people’s lives.
As well as supporting volunteers Chris also worked to support Third Sector groups in RCT to improve and enhance their work with volunteers, she supported a number of groups to attain Investors in Volunteers in Wales, the quality standard for good practice in volunteer management. She also set up the Valuing Volunteers project in RCT and supported Home Start RCT and Trivallis to achieve the award, volunteer Managers throughout RCT valued her support and advice immensely.
Chris identified the need for additional support for volunteers and set up a Peer Support Service in Interlink and recently helped to obtain funding for an Active Inclusion project offering a similar service which is still active at the present time.
Chris was highly valued and respected by all her work colleagues for her diligence and professionalism, she was such an extraordinary person and is truly a great loss to Interlink and to our community as a whole. She will be profoundly missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Interlink has a book of remembrance that will be given to the family, if you wish to contribute please send your messages of condolence to us and we will pass them on to Chris’ family.
