VIRTUAL HELPLINE SUPPORTING THE CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE OF WALES DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS.
Children, young people, and the professionals who work with them can still access vital information, advice and advocacy from Meic Cymru, the bilingual, Welsh Government-funded helpline during the COVID-19 crisis
The service will continue to run as normal, and is contactable via freephone (080 880 23456), text (84001) and instant message (IM) (www.meic.cymru).
This means that young people and professionals alike can still speak to a real person and get the support they need, about any concerns they’re having from 8am – Midnight, every day of the week, when face-to-face provisions such as schools and youth centres close due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Additionally, we will be publishing articles giving trustworthy information about the current pandemic to help children, young people, AND professionals get to grips with the situation. Click here to read our latest article, Coronavirus: Tips to Keep Calm.
Head of Meic Helpline, Stephanie Hoffman, said, “We know that this is going to be a tough and testing time for everyone, having to deal with isolation, anxiety and panic amongst other things. During this time where face-to-face support is restricted, we are offering a lifeline for our children and young people. We will be here to listen and support them.”
Our resources page will also be updated regularly, to offer the best possible support. Please click here for more information.
