TEST, TRACE, PROTECT
The Welsh Government’s Test, Trace, Protect strategy comes into play in Wales today. The new tracing system means that if you test positive for COVID19, you will be asked for details for people you have come into contact with 48 hours before the onset of Coronavirus symptoms to seven days after so those people can self-isolate for 14 days. They will not ask why you had contact with a person or what you were doing with that person. There are strict confidentiality rules in place – details of your contacts will not be shared with anyone else and the contact tracing team will not inform contacts that it is you who has tested positive. It is really important that people take part in the testing and contact tracing process so the spread of the virus can be reduced.
CTM UHB is working with local authorities and Public Health Wales to put in place the Test, Trace, Protect system. We have produced a FAQs on this to help provide key information to staff and communities and these can be found here (these are correct at the time of sending and will be regularly updated).
