Safeguarding Children and Young People
Date: 6 March 2019
Time: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm
Trainer: Alison Harris
This is a level 2 awareness raising session for voluntary and community groups which will increase the participants’ confidence in identifying and referring safeguarding issues. Participants will:
- Develop a basic understanding of child protection and abuse
- Gain knowledge of child protection terms
- Consider how to report/respond as an individual
This course is aimed at those with a limited knowledge of safeguarding issues who are looking to set up, or review safeguarding policies and procedures within their organisation.

This is a level 2 awareness raising session for voluntary and community groups which will include:
- The background to legislation
- Definitions and indicators of abuse
- Current trends in adult protection in Cwm Taf
This course is aimed at those with a limited knowledge of safeguarding issues who are looking to set up, or review safeguarding policies and procedures within their organization.

Recovery College Timetable for Winter Spring 2019
New Horizons and Merthyr and the Valleys Mind Recovery College Timetable for the Autumn term is now complete. We will be offering a range Agored Accredited courses and well-being workshops across Merthyr and RCT, commencing September.
Ideally, we request you complete the Recovery College booking form, should you have any beneficiaries wishing to attend. This allows us to gauge anticipated numbers and plan accordingly. We do, however, appreciate that this is not always possible, so are happy for individuals to attend without a prior booking. Peer Support Groups
Are you experiencing mild to moderate anxiety or depression? If so, you are welcome to join any of the peer support groups in Cwm Taf. The groups will be meeting every week in different locations to share experiences, provide mutual support, gain information and advice on how to manage symptoms. These are friendly groups held in a private and confidential settings see the above link for specific group information.
